What makes us unique?

The children have been looking at themselves in the mirror ready to paint a portrait of themselves.

This week we have worked on the same theme as the rest of the school, this was looking at Children’s mental health week and promoting our individuality!

In Nursery we looked and what made us the same and what made us different.  We all agreed we have, hair, eyes, a nose, a mouth, ears, skin, head, body, arms, hands, legs and feet.

We then looked to see if we could see what differences.  We noticed that although we all had hair,  it could be a different style or colour or length.

We looked at our eyes, we talked about the different colours, in our class we have, dark brown, light brown, blue and green coloured eyes.

We then looked at our skin colour; we talked about how there were lots of different coloured skins and shades of skin.

The children were very excited to then paint their bodies using the correct skin tone.  The children then waited for the paint to dry.  During the next session the children, then added their features and school uniform.  The children took the time to keep looking in the mirror to check they were using the colours for their features and uniform.

Here are some pictures of our beautiful portraits.

The pictures will be displayed in our classroom during the coming week, please do come and look at them, we are sure you will love them as much as we do.
