World Book Day News Letter
You will have received a text from school, before the half term holiday, to let you know that once again we are taking part in World Book Day, which is happening this Thursday 1st March.
Thanks to National Book Tokens and lots of lovely book publishers and booksellers, each child in school is entitled a £1 book token. The children can swap their token for one of the World Book Day books.
So that the children can choose their book, on World Book Day (Thursday), as in previous years, we will all be visiting Waterstones in Coventry City Centre. We will travel to and from the bookshop by coach, within the usual school day.
We are asking the children (and staff!) to bring their favourite book characters to life on the day by dressing up. We look forward to seeing lots of different characters in school and we are always a talking point as we walk to and from the bookshop all dressed up!
Please find time to share a story with your child on World Book Day. Whether your child is in Nursery or Year 6 or anywhere in between spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories can make a crucial difference to their outcomes and it’s fun for all involved. Take a look at www.worldbookday.com/ideas/share-a-story/ to watch Sharing stories with your kids – 10 TOP TIPS.
Remember – find 10 minutes on World Book Day and every day to read with your child. It doesn’t just have to happen at bedtime – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.
Thank you for supporting World Book Day.
