I have lived in Coventry all my life and taught before retiring recently. I enjoy travelling, watching Coventry City play and sharing time with my family. I became a governor to support schools in enabling children to receive the best education possible, value each other and themselves and become good citizens. The vision and ethos of the Federation is based upon these values. It is a pleasure to Chair the Federative Board and be able to lead a team of critical friends in supporting and challenging the schools, in the Federation, to even better outcomes for our children.

I have lived in Coventry since I was 1, attending Coventry schools and benefitting from all they had to offer. I have worked as a teacher in schools and in a special educational needs service and wish to support the staff and children in the Phoenix Federation to have the best and happiest school experience possible.

I have lived in Coventry since getting married, and had a career in education before retirement in January 2015. I enjoy swimming, Pilates, watching Rugby, as well as volunteering at Coventry Cathedral and supporting the local Osteoporosis Society. My granddaughter attends the school and I wanted to become a governor to support the children to strive towards their aspirations and achievements. I hope to be able to support the school in providing well rounded, respectful and fulfilled individuals.

I have 2 children, in Y2 & Y8 so I am roughly halfway through a 13 year tenure of Primary School runs. As such I know the federation well and wanted to use my professional skills to give something back to the federation that has given so much to my family. I strive
to support it for the benefit of the staff and to give the children the best possible start we can.

 
 

Dr Steve Simplay

My name is Dr Steve Simplay and I am delighted to be appointed as a Governor in May 2018 for the Phoenix Federation. I am an enthusiastic and committed person and as a governor it is our responsibility to ensure the school is delivering the best education to our children, and the leadership team are challenged to deliver exceptional results. As an external examiner for Warwick University and as a Director of a global organisation I bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership capabilities to the team.

Louise Stewart

I have been the head teacher of Charter Primary School since September 2018 and prior to that I was a deputy headteacher at Wyken Croft Primary School.  I relocated from Suffolk to Coventry in 2015.  Whilst living and working in Suffolk, I worked as an advisor for the local authority where I gained many skills that I have enjoyed transferring to the role of head teacher.  I grew up in Binley Woods and my grandparents lived in Canley all of their married life so I am very familiar with the area.

 

Luke Yeadon

I have worked at Wyken Croft since September 2012 and have worked across the year groups. I am currently working within the enhanced SEN provision. As a Phoenix Federation Staff Governor, I am enthusiastic about ensuring we provide the best possible education we can to help the young people in our care achieve what they want to achieve. I am also a trustee to 3 chariries across the city that work with young people and adults.

Zarina Muttaqi

I am a teaching assistant at Charter Primary. I decided to beocme a governor because I wanted to take a more active role in school life. Being a staff governor means I can give the staff a voice. I am very lucky to be working with such a committed staff.

 
 

The Phoenix Federation Governing Body is structured to allow Governors to focus on 3 key governor areas:

 1.      Safeguarding, Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare (Attendance)

2.      Teaching, Learning, Curriculum, Performance (including Pupil and Sport Premium)

3. Finance, Human Resources, Site and Health and Safety

Each focus group meet with relevant school staff members throughout the year with their findings reported to the whole governing body.
